SINGAPORE – A 38-year-old man has died after a traffic accident in Hougang early in the morning on Aug 7.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the accident at Hougang Avenue 6 towards Hougang Avenue 10 at around 4.20am. A car is believed to have skidded on its own, according to the police.

The SCDF said a man was found trapped in the car when its officers arrived, and they used hydraulic rescue equipment to free him.

The man was unconscious when taken to Sengkang General Hospital, where he later died.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The number of traffic accidents with fatalities rose to 147 in 2025, compared with 139 in 2024. Correspondingly, the number of fatalities from such accidents has risen to 149 in 2025, as compared with 142 in 2024.
